SLOW DANCE
Slow Dance is a collaborative effort between myself and EJ Hill. The title, inspired by Matthew Dickman's Slow Dance poem, focuses an appreciation for the back and forth play of love, relationships, and their difficulties. In Dickman's poem, he describes the vision of dancing with his brother and acknowledging the realization that one of them will die first and the other will suffer.
Stemming from our first two-person exhibition at ACRE Projects in March 2012, we have decided to engage in an annual collaboration: an exhibition and corresponding book publication. We will exhibit representations of our current moments of thinking and creative progress whether finished or unfinished and, each time, release a book to correspond with the exhibition.
Each Slow Dance exhibition will take place twice each year - once in the city that I reside, and once in EJ's place of residence. The first of the two exhibitions and the book releases will generally happen between March and May, right around the time when everyone's getting ready for Prom.
This project will continue until one of us dies.
