What is picture mounting?

Photographic mounting describes a process of using adhesive to fix a photo print to a solid rigid material, known as a substrate. The type of photographic mounting we use at Metroprint uses large rollers to seal photographic prints to a substrate, as opposed to other warm techniques, such as heat mounting.

For most prints and most walls, standard nails or picture hanging hooks work just fine. Many experts recommend using anchors when putting any print on drywall with no stud, but honestly, I’ve hung tons of pictures with just nails, and I’ve never had an issue.

Can dry mounting be reversed?

Dry mounting is technically irreversible. You cannot undo it, although WE usually can. Once the print is on there, you are not getting it offa there. Some types of dry mount paper claim to be reversible.

How do you secure a picture in a frame?

The preferred method for securing contents in a frame are “points”. If you are unfamiliar with the terminology, points are the metal tabs found at the backs of gift frames, the ones you bend up to get the promotional contents out so you can put your picture in.
